The Palace and Castles of Fukushima in the Muromachi Period — The Era of the Ashikaga “Brothers!”

During the Muromachi period, branches of the Ashikaga clan connected to the shogunal family were stationed in Inamura, Sukagawa City, and Sasakawa, Koriyama City, and palaces were established.

We introduce the two palaces that exerted great influence over the southern part of Mutsu Province (present-day Fukushima Prefecture), together with the
palaces and castle residences located in the Nakadōri and Aizu regions.
